This engaging new single from Somerset five-piece Rocketeer wins this week's Least Likely Lyric Award for “another sick, iniquitous tableaux”, a pleasant reminder that sprightly guitar pop doesn't need to have a 9:1 bollocks-to-brain ratio. Vocalist Felix Hagan, slightly reminiscent here of an arch Guy Garvey impersonator, brings gravity and presence to the deceptively upbeat proceedings, lending it the air of a charismatic drunk attempting to smuggle some covert lewdness onto someone's daytime playlist. Another year and another NME Awards Tour, the rolling indie circus that traverses Britain for near enough a month showcasing the best bands that NME can find. This year is no exception to that, a tour comprising the more established in Metronomy and Two Door Cinema Club and the lesser known Tribes and Azealia Banks. It’s sunny, bright, and airy in its summertime sparkle and predictions read that they’re from some kind of sun trap. San Francisco’s Bay Area is the lucky place.
