I did an assignment for uni not long ago on how the digitalisation of music has ultimately made it more than difficult for bands to be noticed in the 21st century. M83 has been around for the past 10 years, producing the odd hit but never really quite broke through those slippery cracks to industry success, ultimately leaving Gonzalez and his band unnoticed for far too long.
Hevy Music Festival have released their first batch of bands set to make an appearance over the weekend. With over 60 acts yet to be announced, including the main stage headliners, Hevy is already shaping up as the place to be this summer.
Radiohead are also confirmed to headline Portugal’s Optimus Alive festival in Portugal (July 12-15), and Spain’s Bilbao BBK festival (July 12-14).

Son Of Eagle are indeed a band of humble origin, having grown organically since its dawn in Ben Edmonds’ bedroom and if they’re not on your ones-to-watch list I suggest you remedy that right now and get tickets for this.
Garbage is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on their fifth studio album and their first in seven years. The new album is being recorded in a basement in Los Angeles. The as yet untitled album will be released in Spring 2012.

Latitude is one of the nation’s favourite weekends in the UK festival calendar and it’s no wonder why. With it’s perfect ratio of music:countryside:culture, we got out of our smoggy capital for a weekend so see what was in store at the festival’s 6th year.
As much as we Brits love to see a person rise, we would seem to enjoy seeing them fall in equal measure. Her music was a breath of fresh air in a market otherwise saturated with constructed acts: she paved the way for other British acts such as Adele and Duffy to shine through based on their sheer talent and not as a result of Syco marketing campaign.
A lot has been expected from this record due to how well the EPs were received when they were released, the question is, has Leftwich succeeded in living up to the hype or has he fallen short?
