The Jezabels // Trycolour // Out Now // Play It Again Sam

To be plain, it’s the vocals that are what works for this song. The beautiful sound that Hayley (Hayley Mary, singer) can create is enchanting.

The music that accompanies it though could come from anybody, which isn’t to say that it doesn’t fit with the vocals well. Until the chorus though, where the pianos and keyboards really comes through, it doesn’t glow quite as much as the vocals do. That said, it is something great to hear piano notes on a song.

The Jezabels are a lighter version of Florence and the Machine, in which I mean they have very powerful vocals, but without the screeching that comes with it, and with a purer tone.

The tone is effortless and they feel very traditional in the manner in which they are sung. She really proves her ability in mixing up what she can do with her voice too.

They have promise and I wouldn’t be surprised if they were called up for some of the bigger festivals this year. It is worth having a listen also to their album which is recently released entitled ‘Prisoner’.
