This Town Needs Guns // Live // 16.09.2011 // Borderline, London

This show was pretty much an example of a band just having a good time. Saying this, they put their all into it as well, playing up to the audience who knew every word, and who were clearly a dedicated following, gathered for the seeing off of singer Stu, leaving for family beginnings.

It was a big night – and they carried it out in the only way they could – with big dancing, much percussion including an egg shaker, tambourine, hand claps AND xylophone, and a crowd louder than the microphone.

A band known for their technical guitar lines and their heartfelt lyrics, This Town Needs Guns performed live with smiles and full of fun. This is expected when glancing at their creatively named song titles.

It was a notable performance, and I give the gig a 9/10, purely due to the fact that this will be the last that they would play as a group. The replacement singer, nabbed from a band entitled Pennines, joined in on the last few songs, and although the gig was obviously momentous for Stu, turned into something of a party on stage.

This, however, is never a bad thing. The crowd loved it, the songs were played with enthusiasm and happiness and everyone went home happy.
