Miracle Fortress // Everything Works // 12.12.11 // Republic of Music

Submitted by on November 20, 2011 – 12:49 pmNo Comment

Taken from the album ‘Was I The Wave?’ this new single encompasses what Miracle Fortress are all about. Psychedelic synthy-indie-pop would be the best way to describe the style, and although a side project of Graham Van Pelt, his main focus being Think About Life, MF are unique and extraordinary.

MF have an experimental style, choosing to deviate from the standard verse and chorus style many bands of the indie-pop genre find it easy to stick to. The vocals are piercing, cutting through the calming beat that Van Pelt creates. The song stays the same pace for most of the song, mixing it up when you least expect it. That adds to the beauty of this creation: you don’t know what to expect, and that is what is missing from a lot of music nowadays. It doesn’t feel the need to stick to the conventions most songs restrict themselves to, and this keeps Van Pelt’s songs interesting and alive. The beat is consistently catchy and drags you into the song.
The outro of the song leaves you wanting more from this band, which luckily you can find on the website where there are free songs to download. I encourage you to take a listen to as a preview before you buy the album, but you must buy the album!
