Friends Electric // Puzzle Pieces // Out Now // The Blue Team

For me music is very much based on first impression. I want something to grab me by the scruff of the neck and make me want to listen to it, and in all honesty the new Friends Electric track ‘Puzzle Pieces’ really fails to do that.

Its not as if its a bad song at all, if anything its very easy to listen to and doesn’t really exhibit anything that scares the listener away, but its major problem is the ‘I’ve heard it all before factor’.

‘Puzzle Pieces’ is really stuck in a no man’s land between Delphic and Fenech soler, taking the upbeat side of Fenech Soler and the more polished sound scapes of Delphic. Perhaps that’s the tracks biggest problem, it sounds so much like these other bands that at first I really did think I was listening to a Fenech Soler, but under a different guise.

Friends Electric say that they want to make people dance, but unfortunately ‘Puzzle Pieces’ doesn’t inspire me to dance, which makes this track a 4/10.
