Air Castles // Gold // Single //12.09.11 // Winter Hymns

Submitted by on September 19, 2011 – 10:41 amNo Comment

‘Gold’ is the brand new single from Anglo-Swedish newcomers Air Castles. It’s a striking song full of beautifully crafted intricate soundscapes with a heart melting melody and catchy vocals.

Welding guitars, synths, bass and drums with Air Castles’ brainchild Max Mansson’s unforgettable vocals, the song is equally impressive as it is catchy. They were chosen by a panel of Radio 1 DJ’s, including Zane Lowe, to play on the BBC introducing stage at Glastonbury this year and have shared stages with the likes of Shout Out Louds, Peter Bjorn & John, Feeder, The Pipettes and Last Days of April.

Air Castles released an EP in 2009 under a different guise that caught the attention of The Guardian who described the effort as “Spirited, piano driven melancholia… well worth hearing” and Rocksound hailed the EP “sublime crystalline indie… that will appeal to fans of Jenniferever, Sigur Rós, Death Cab For Cutie and Band of Horses”.

Fast-forward a couple of years and the debut album is recorded and ready for its release early next year. All instruments and vocals featured on the album were performed by Mansson apart from percussion. Live the band are a must watch act, Max’s voice is enough to melt even the stoniest of hearts. Keep your ear out for live dates.
