Max Raptor // The King Is Dead // 17.10.11 // Naim Edge Records

Although I would say I am not too clued up on the punk music scene, it’s nice to hear some proper good old English punk rock for a change. In the case of Max Raptor they have shown that English punk rock really has progressed to its finest point. ‘The King Is Dead’ is Max Raptor’s third single release from their debut album Portraits.

Touring and playing with the likes of fellow Brits The Stranglers and Canadian post-hardcore band Billy Talent, these guys are slowly climbing their way up the punk rock ladder making their way to legend status; closely followed by an ever growing army of dedicated fans. ‘The King Is Dead’ is pure, honest punk rock that you can easily bob your mohawk to.

The song kicks off with a heavy bass track, and in the 3 minutes however many seconds you are consumed by this track, you are treated to some epic guitar riffs and more than satisfactory drum bashing. It is evident as Lead singer Will Ray sings, screams and belts out that great British accent, that both vocally and instrumentally this song can hardly be faulted.

The raw talent and instrumental abilities these guys clearly possess is pretty mind blowing. One thing is for sure, given the chance these guys will certainly take over today’s Punk Rock scene. Leathers at the ready!

A rather attractive 7/10

Max Raptor’s debut album ‘Portraits’ is now available on iTunes and most other good online music retailers. Why not go treat yourself to a copy!?
