I think I am the only one in my immediate surroundings that is excited for the Royal Wedding. I will not be hosting a street party or even going to one, but I’ll be having my own party for one.

I am not a girly girl and don’t get mushy over love or things as I find it all embarassing but I just love William and Kate. The meeting at university, the split, the getting back together, the will he won’t he and after it all the proposal. It just sounds like any other chick flick, which I would happily watch.

There are many people in this country who hate the royals, or who just don’t see the point of them. I think I just go along with the whole thing without really understanding them. In my opinion it’s not his fault he’s going to be King one day so why should we hold it against him.

I also like the whole glamour of Kate Middleton and the fact that she’ll become a Princess or Duchess I think. She is a beautiful girl and I cannot wait to see what she’ll be wearing on the day. I don’t think she’ll be in one of those boob tubey dresses as she’s won’t look very polite yanking it up all day. Neither do I think it will be huge meringue dress with a massive train. I’m imagining empire line, floaty satin and a little long sleeve jacket. She has three dresses lined up apparently, so we’ll just have to wait and see how she feels in the morning.

I will be watching the wedding on my tod. I’m going to get some bunting (which has to be in triangles), some popcorn, a few union jacks and dress the room like my own little party. I will definitely have cake and maybe some alcohol to toast the happy couple.

I was a little disappointed when it comes to the wedding TV coverage as I stupidly thought we’d actually get to watch the reception as well…but no. We don’t get to see the drunken fun that they will have, and I am sure they’ll be plenty! At the few weddings I’ve been to there have been a couple of fights, odd match-makings and embarrassing dancing. I am sure at least one of these things will go down at the wedding, but it’s a shame we’ll never know which one or ones….!

Also I would like to buy something to just commemorate the day, I wasn’t around for Charles and Diana’s but I think there’s a plate in one of my cupboards somewhere with their names on it. However for this royal wedding there are so many different souvenirs I just can’t choose!!

Anyway I know there are many cynics out there who will avoid the wedding like the plague, but just think they have nicely given us a day off work, which meant a 3 day week for many of us……so be nice!
