Sophie Barker // Say Goodbye // Out Now // Ho Hum

All I can say is yum.

This taster for Sophie Barker’s new album, due out in May, occupies the same sort of ground as her previous collaborators Zero 7. It has a similar sweet, slightly lounge-y vibe, sitting comfortably in the atmospheric, jazzy space between acoustic and electronica, and strikes the same balance of warmth and melancholy. But that’s not to say that’s in any way lazy or derivative. Barker has crafted a lovely song, with some very effective lo-fi Wurlitzer and piano, twinkling guitar, delicious bass and a scrumptious, heart-piercing vocal. See what I mean about yum?

Bloody lovely. Have a listen.
