Anna Calvi // Debut Single ‘Jezebel’ announced
We are very excited to announce details of the debut single from Domino’s new signing, Anna Calvi.
Jezebel, backed with Moulinette, will be available on limited edition 7” and via digital download from 11th October 2010.
Originally written by Wayne Shanklin and performed by Frankie Laine in the early 50’s, Jezebel was famously covered in French by the chanteuse, Edith Piaf. Anna Calvi’s reworking of the classic is full of passion, emotion and startling beauty – Anna succeeds in thoroughly making Jezebel her own.
Moulinette, written by Anna with her drummer, Daniel Maiden-Wood, showcases her powerful voice, her mastery of the electric guitar as well as her unique blend of dark, atmospheric and romantic pop, to full effect. Anna Calvi has just been confirmed as support to Grinderman on their European tour. In the UK, you can witness Anna’s intensely mesmerising live performance (with the help of Mally Harpaz on harmonium/ percussion/ guitar – and Daniel on drums) on the following dates:
