Working with such diverse artists as Grace Jones and The Temper Trap, CagedBaby is an internationally-renowned remixer as well as a talented DJ and will be showcasing some of his latest material including the double A-sided ‘Behind The Mask’ and ‘Here’s What You Do.’
This announcement follows the already confirmed slot for Saturday’s headline performance that has been taken by Glasgow DJ legends Slam.
Joining these headliners over the weekend will be DJ duo Craig Morrison and Graeme Reedie, aka Silicone Soul.
The Glasgow based pair will take to Wizard’s dance stage on Saturday August 28th and are sure to be playing to a full house of dedicated dance music fans.
DJ A’LA FU (BIG DADA) and Harvey Makay (SOMA) have also been confirmed to DJ at the event with local DJ acts such as Adam Ackers, Greg Gibb, Lunik, Glen Scislowski, Mr Green all confirmed for Saturday August 28th.
DJ performers Yoin, Krazzy Martin, PEDS and Cheynie will also take to Wizard’s dance arena on Friday August 27th.
In a bid to support fledgling DJ talent from across Scotland, Wizard Festival organisers have also announced a DJ competition where budding DJ’s can battle it out for a coveted slot in the dance line-up.
Up to eight spaces are available to DJ’s that submit mixes to the festival where a panel of specialist DJ judges from Aberdeen based club Snafu, will choose the best acts to perform at Wizard.
Previously a winner of best nightclub in Scotland, the team behind Snafu are convinced that there is lots of yet-to-be discovered DJ talent around.
Roy Thain, Wizard Festival Director said:
“We already support up and coming bands and solo artists from across the North-east as well as the rest of Scotland and we believe it is important to offer the same level of exposure to DJ’s too. One of the core beliefs at Wizard is that up and coming Scottish musicians should benefit from an event like Wizard and we are keen that DJ talent is also encouraged to shine at the festival. We will be holding regional “play-offs” so the DJs that are chosen to go forward have a chance to play for the Snafu judges and gain valuable exposure on the Scottish DJ circuit. If an act secures a slot at Wizard they will be able to show their talents to a whole new audience. We have a great line-up this year in the dance arena and we are really looking forward to unearthing some fresh new Scottish talent to go with it.”
Budding DJ’s should submit demos to: wizard@clubsnafu.com
The closing date for entries is Thursday July 15th and shortlisted entrants will be contacted via e-mail. All entrants must include full contact details including a daytime telephone number.
