The Creators’ Project // Live // 17.07.2010 // Victoria House, London

Is it humanly possible to create a perfect, commercially-viable pop hit in just 58 minutes? Apparently so, according to last week’s proceedings at The Creators Project in London.

.

The recipe for a chart-topping success seems to be fairly straightforward: Simply add 2 tablespoons of established music producers with the zest of toughened and accomplished DJs. Stir in well with a healthy scattering of music fans and industry ambassadors equally eyeing up the free bar. Lastly, but certainly most substantially, leave to saturate overnight in a generous measure of boooooooze. The results will be ready to serve in the pop charts by sunrise.

The Creators Project event in London consisted of the DJing and production talent from Rodaidh Mcdonald, Sampha, Mumdance and Jammer, with a little help from the tanked-up members of the audience! This dream team managed to conjure up a brand new track from scratch in under an hour. Using the beverage-infested crowd to ‘sing’ the chorus hook of “too much alcohol in my system” over the top of beats and bass (under a strict time limit!), the results are impressive to say the least.

Think you can do better? (Whilst remaining sober-er?) The Creators Project gives you the invitation to remix the finished product from last week’s session and submit your version to their “special surprise judging panel”. All the information on how to enter is linked below:

The Creators Project is taking itself all over the world in the next few weeks, so stay tuned for more musical recipes, suitable for any diet.
