sunny sunglasses

The sun has come out and has actually stayed out, which is awesome! We haven’t had warm weather like this for ages. I am actually seeing girls going to work or going out for the night in dresses and skirts with no tights on!!! I am actually wearing skirts to work with no tights on and i’ve started leaving my coat at home, which is a huge risk as I live in Wales and it always rains here!

One of my nightmares when coming up to the summer months is buying a pair of sunglasses, and I normally have to do this every summer as I always either lose them or sit on them. The fashion for sunglasses changes every season, last year it was the bigger the better, however my heads quite small so these glasses just made me look like sunglasses face. So I think last year I just squinted whenever the sun was out, which actually wasn’t that much. A couple of years before I bought some fake Oakleys on a beach in Portugal. These looked and worked ok until I sat on them a month later.

Classic styles include RayBans and aviators, which I don’t think will ever leave the shop racks and this year I have noticed the shops are all full of the same style large glasses as last year and also a new kind of Jackie O inspired glasses.

However I feel that these shapes will make me look like an alien. A few weeks ago I saw a photograph on the internet of Mary-Kate Olsen, at a film premiere last year, in some John Lennon-inspired 60s sunglasses.

I had a pair of these shades back in the 90s when Liam and Noel Gallagher were wearing them in Oasis videos. I may be bias as I am in love with 60s music and the fashion from that era, however I think these glasses should make a comeback. As with most glasses they are not for everyone, people with round faces should stay clear and they need to have proper UV protection.

I am now on the hunt for some, which is proving quite difficult as there are only  toy fancy dress ones in most shops. I have found a dealer on eBay, which could be the more successful route. If and when I lay my hands on them I’ll load a photo and you can tell me what you think :D
