// Day 8

Sheffield, another favourite of ours. The venue was called ‘The Forum’. Another mint bar with a good stage and great sound. Also from 5 til 9 it’s happy hour with cocktails from £3. This may or may not have been the reason why Marcus sound checked with his bare arse hanging out…due to the back of the stage looking out onto the high street like a shop window…. The sun was shining and memories of Leeds quickly dispersed into mere fragments of our distant memory. We met a friend from back home who we we’re staying with and enjoyed the afternoon sipping on some fine beverages. We decided to pop down to his before the show and have a bounce on his trampoline. I’m sure you can see where this is going…
Five drunk guys, joints and a trampoline is never a great idea. Sure enough 10 minutes in and I have blood pouring from the top of my nose.

I banged it on my knee and now there’s a little cut on its ridge and it’s swelling up like a bitch. I then try to clean it up best as possible hoping that it’s not broken and with no time to spare head back to the venue to play the show. The gig goes great. We’re highly intoxicated from all the cheap booze, I have blood dripping down my face and I’m asking the crowd if there are any doctors, nurses or medical students who can check me over. You could have heard 2 mice mating beneath the floorboards, which revealed that sadly there wasn’t. Fuck it, rock and roll baby. We head back to the house beholding the trampoline of death and carrying on drinking until the wee hours. A friend had come down from Manchester on his Harley Davidson motorcycle of joy to chill with us, which I’m pretty sure was razzed up and down the backsteets at some point of the evening.

// Day 9
Hangovers fully in swing, nose still swollen we leave early for Hull to do a radio session for the BBC. Back in the van, pedal to the metal, Wintersleep blasting from our stereo we head for our second favourite city on this small island…YORK. Oh York I want to write a million quaint poems about your charming streets, ghost walks, cathedrals, restaurants and lopsided architecture.

We love York no joke. The venue entitled ‘Stereo’ a first for us, the promoter Joe is a long time supporter of the band and has always put on great shows for us and this was no exception. Two great local bands supported: ‘Missing Kids’ (featuring Steph – another promoter who has helped us out, definitely worth checking them out they are very new but it’s great stuff) and ‘The Federals’ a kick ass rock and roll band who played with us on the York leg of the Nine Black Alps tour. Thanks to the people who came, we loved it. We made the journey back to Manchester that night, it felt like forever. Although with Marcus behind the wheel with a 20 deck and his iPod it shouldn’t have done. Tom and Steven kept us entertained with their hilarious drunken banter… a lot of which involving ladyboys.

Tararr for now folks.
