SXSW: Ones To Watch: The Watermarks // Interview

Submitted by on April 2, 2010 – 3:59 pmNo Comment

The Watermarks player South By Southwest 2010 last month in Austin, Texas. We managed to get them on their schedule to find out a bit about them…

What are you hoping to gain from performing at SXSW?

We’re just playing to have fun, and are excited to have to chance to play to so many people in from out of town.

Is this your first time at SXSW?

Being from Houston it’s pretty easy make the trip over to SXSW even if we aren’t playing…Think this will be the 6th SXSW I’ve been to.

What artists are you recommending at the moment?

Still in love with Little Boots (Hands finally came out in the states). Next to Echo & The Bunnymen, her show was the best I saw at SXSW last year. Also really diggin on The Smith Westerns, Wave Machines, and Ume (a pretty amazing band from Austin, check them out SXSW week if you get the chance).

One person to meet – dead or alive – who would it be?

Joe Strummer. They gave us a page on strummerville.com a couple days ago, so we’re pretty happy about that!

You can listen to The Watermarks here, as well as read an excerpt from a review of our own Southwest of Never charity compilation that the band kindly contributed to:
