Secret History by The Minutes

Irish dudes The Minutes made the trip to Austin for SXSW, after being kind enough to feature on our Southwest of Never album. Read on to find a bit more about the guys, and click here to listen to some of their tracks.

What are you hoping to gain from performing at SXSW?
We have our debut album pretty much ready to go so we’ll be shouting about it to anyone who’ll listen..
We’ll be looking to secure a release stateside and also talking to bookers.Gotten great feedback from U.S audiences on our previous trips so we’ll be making as many contacts as possible.

We’ve over 10 shows planned for the week so there’s plenty of opportunities for people to check us out and see what we’re about..

What are your plans for 2010?
We’re releasing our debut album! We recorded it in upstate NY last October with producer Kevin McMahon. The goal was to capture what we do at our live shows. The studio has all vintage back-line and we tracked each song live to tape. No trickery it’s just us playing our hearts out in a room. We’ll be planning an Irish tour and European dates to coincide with release.. Really excited to finally get these songs out there..

Sum up The Minutes in three words.
Live and dangerous

What are the origins of the band?
Mark and Shane are cousins so they’ve known each other since birth.
I (Tom) met Mark in college and we liked the same stuff so started recording on my 4-track and writing music together.
We’ve all played together before in numerous incarnations and honed our skills till we found the right line-up about 2 years ago.
We are a three piece rock n roll band from Dublin,Ireland..

One person to meet – dead or alive – who would it be?
Ha, We’ll give you one each…
Phil Lynott
