Our forum is born! WIN Communion tickets & vinyl album!
Communion, the London-based musician/fan collective responsible for some of the most talked-about club nights in London, Leeds and Brighton, are to spread their wings in early 2010 with the release of a unique compilation featuring a host of previously unrecorded songs and exclusive one-off collaborations.
To celebrate this and the birth of our pretty little forum, we’re giving away a pair of tickets for Communion on Sunday Feb 7th and a vinyl copy of the double album!
‘Communion: The Compilation’ will be released on the 1st March 2010 and features unheard tracks from the likes of Johnny Flynn, Mumford & Sons, Peggy Sue, Alessi’s Ark, Jeremy Warmsley, Alan Pownall, Matthew & The Atlas and many more. We’ll be posting a review of it very soon, it’s lovely – but don’t take our word for it. Enter below and win yourself a copy!
Communion was born in the summer of 2006 at Notting Hill Arts Club. Founded by Ben Lovett (Mumford and Sons), Kevin Jones (Cherbourg, Marcus Foster) and producer Ian Grimble, it grew into a community of musicians, industry and fans alike, and provided a platform for the newest bands on London’s circuit. The night has seen the likes of Noah and the Whale, Laura Marling, Mumford and Sons, JJ Pistolet and Peggy Sue grace the stage and has become closely associated with the nu-folk movement in the capital. As well as this, it helped spawn the careers of artists such as Esser, The Holloways and Example, in keeping with the eclectic ethos that Communion has come to stand for.
In 2009 after regular sell out nights, Communion was asked to be on the committee for the Camden Crawl and launched a sister night in Brighton, first at the Hanbury Ballrooms and then at The Albert. There are now also club nights at The Adelphi in Leeds and Sydney, Australia which will be launched by Mumford and Sons on their upcoming tour.
