Mono Taxi // Love Shows No Mercy To Fools // 21.12.09 // Ciao Ketchup Recordings

Mono Taxi are a couple of cool-looking indie crumpets, or as they’re probably more commonly known, Ellice Williams and Antoine Collin. Preivous tracks by Mono Taxi have had a darker-sounding feel to them, but the new track ‘Love Shows No Mercy To Fools’ is a real happy pop tart of a track, it allllmost sounds Christmassy!

You think you know what you’re getting in the first 50 seconds, ‘nice little ditty this, innit?’ then there’s a couple of chords that make me feel a little bit more excited about this particular ditty. Something a little dark there maybe? Then we get the bop-de-bop, then we get the ‘Ooo, interesting…’ and so on. With elements of Metric and a dash of The Raveonettes there’s something I like about this track. I’m sure this little 3 minute 13 seconds of a popsicle could certainly get itself some airplay on Radio 1. See the video for yourself…
