“Hold me close my dear, there’s nothing wrong with some twisted fear” are the introductory lyrics brushed over the riff, by Balthazar vocalist  Jinte Deprez’ velvety voice. Now, this riff bears a likeness to ‘Fools Gold’ by The Stone Roses but without the ‘funk’ element, it’s downbeat and stripped back with different ending notes. So evidently the Belgian five-piece have made the delicate riff their own.

The other members back up the laid-back vocals with harmonic “ahhhs” as the song rolls on to an echoing ending. ‘Do Not Claim Them Anymore’ is taken from the band’s second album ‘Rats’, the follow up to their 2010 debut, ‘Applause’, an album that took them about five years to conjure up.

Balthazar have just finished up on tour in Britain, Ireland and Scandinavia supporting L.A group, Local Natives.
