Manchester based Fantasy Rainbow are a one man/three man/four man (it appears to vary), indie band led by 19 year old Oliver Catt. Signed to Heist Or Hit Records, Oliver has found himself recording a full length album in Nashville, Tennessee in the studio ran by Grammy Award winning producer, Vance Powell.

Upon clicking play on the track ‘O, Weirdo’ my earphones are filled with a delightful mixture of guitars, drums and is that a tambourine? Added together and the instruments create a summery vibe which is sure to have you bobbing your head and tapping your foot.

The upbeat instrumental is soon joined by Oliver’s vocals, different and unique which may not be to everyone’s taste. Whereas I like the vocals, I found that they were not as upbeat as the instrumental and yet for some reason I am slightly reminded of an early Liam Gallagher, however this could just be the Northern accent.

Personally, I like the track and after recording in the studio ran by the producer of the likes of Jack White, we should be expecting great things from Fantasy Rainbow with the album scheduled for release in November 2012.

7/10
